Timothy Lym
Born in Kingston, Jamaica on February 27, 1965, Albert Timothy Joseph
Lym was the fourth child born to Albert Lym, Senior and Rosa Lym.
Tim, as he is more widely known, graduated from the University of
Western Ontario where he earned a degree in Business and Economics. In
1987, with his university days now behind him, the young graduate
decided to return to Jamaica where he joined his father in the new family
business, Brooklyn Supermarket. Today, there are currently two Brooklyn
Supermarket locations of which Mr. Lym serves as Managing Director.
Since joining the family business, Mr. Lym has applied his business savvy and expanded his
portfolio by building the Hobby Hut Pet Stores in 1990. Hobby Hut currently has two locations
and caters to all pet lovers’ needs.
Appointed in 2012 as a director of Progressive Grocers of Jamaica, Ltd.’s board of directors, Mr.
Lym sits in on the weekly meetings held at the company’s Twickenham Park head office.
Even with his full plate of a hectic six-day workweek, however, Mr. Lym still manages to
dedicate time to helping raise awareness and money for charities such as The Salvation Army,
The Jamaica Cancer Society and the Jamaica Legion Poppy Appeal, to name a few. Over the
years, he has also partnered with the National Council for Senior Citizens and Heart Trust/NTA.
When not at work, he can be found spending time with his son, Tobias, bird shooting, deep-sea
fishing or boating.
